Radiation and Scarring

Radiation is known to cause fibrosis (tightness and scarring) of the tissues irradiated.  A tissue that is tight pulls on the bones to which it attaches and creates alterations in the way you move.  Frequently the scapula and head are pulled forward, creating postural abnormalities.  When posture is altered movement of joints is altered.  This is the perfect set up for developing problems in joints such as bursitis, tendonitis, artritis, rotator cuff tears, muscle spasming, and headaches.
