Primal Reflex Release Technique™ (PRRT)

What is the Primal Reflex Release Technique™ (PRRT)?

Neural networkPRRT (pronounced “pert”), is a manual-therapy approach for musculoskeletal pain relief. Proven effective in over 80% of patients, PRRT accomplishes in seconds what other therapies can only accomplish over time. PRRT is based on the premise that over-stimulation of the body’s primal reflexes creates pain and keeps a painful pattern occurring long after the triggering event has passed.

This drug free and non-invasive treatment is beneficial for motor vehicle accidents, PTSD, and other trauma when the fight or flight response has been over stimulated. It is also beneficial for musculoskeletal pain, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, post surgeries, neck, and back pain. In addition, it will give the patient self-treatment tools long after therapy.

The patient stays clothed and the treatment consists of finding trigger regions through palpation. The release of these trigger regions is often immediate, with a feeling of relaxation. Any restrictions in range of motion are identified prior to treatment, and again assessed after releases. PRRT also allows for greater strengthening, ROM, and neuromuscular retraining needed once hypersensitivity is decreased.

jsI have practiced physical therapy for well over 30 years now.  I was introduced to PRRT over a decade ago.   I can say with certainty that PRRT is the most powerful method I use in order to get consistent results.  I have found it to be extremely valuable in helping me hone in on specific problems in one to two visits, where previously it may have taken weeks to weed out the extraneous pain issues that are not the primary drivers of the problem. Often times PRRT is all that is needed to resolve the issue.  How a method that is so gentle with virtually no negative side effects can produce such amazing consistent results is hard to comprehend but I see it happen on a daily basis.    Jeff Swift, PT
